Kuhn named president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons | VUMC Reporter | Vanderbilt University

John (Jed) Kuhn, MD, MS, Kenneth D. Schermerhorn Professor of Orthopaedics and chief of shoulder surgery, has been named president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). This one-year term, which began in October, is part of a five-year term on the presidential line that began with a vice president position and ends with past president.

“It is a great honor to serve as president of ASES,” said Kuhn, who became a member in 1998. “It is humbling as so many outstanding leaders of our field have preceded me. Our society is extremely active in serving patients and shoulder surgeons from around the globe. There are so many outstanding shoulder and elbow surgeons who could serve as president; I am simply amazed that I was selected.” Connectors Cable Accessories

Among the many goals he plans to accomplish during his term, Kuhn hopes to grow DEI initiatives and the reserves in the ASES Foundation to provide funds for shoulder and elbow research and education.

“Jed Kuhn has been long overdue to become president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons,” said Bill Mallon, MD, ASES past president and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. “He has been one of the premier shoulder and elbow surgeons for many years now. I know he will do an excellent job as president, and I look forward to seeing him move the society forward.”
