TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Both the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department and the Toledo Police Department have ended their investigation into a hole found in ductwork in a female locker room, officials announced Wednesday.

The Toledo Police Department recently completed their investigation and concluded that, “due to lack of physical evidence and no further leads this case is carried as inactive.”
The investigation by the TFRD Professional Standards Bureau was completed on February 8, 2023 and could also not pinpoint evidence to show who, when, or what caused the hole in the duct work.
The investigation also concluded that there was no evidence showing any viewing or recording devices in or around the area above the locker room. Subsequent interviews also included conflicting reports of how long the hole may have been present in the duct work. Various female firefighters stated they believed the hole could have been there for ten or more years.
Currently, there are no suspects or information to issue criminal or departmental charges.
The case is now considered inactive and will remain so unless new information is brought forward that would allow it to be reactivated.
“I am committed to providing a safe and secure environment within our fire stations, all TFRD buildings, and bureaus,” said Fire Chief Allison Armstrong. “As a result of this incident all TFRD station locker rooms and rest rooms will be inspected on a regular basis to ensure safe and secure areas.”
