The annoying thing about trends is that once people jump on board, everything starts looking the same. Two fads you've definitely seen over and over again are those rustic, wooden "Live, Laugh, Love" signs and subway tile backsplashes in the kitchen—the latter being the lesser evil in my humble opinion. But if you still really like the idea of surrounding yourself with motivational or directional words, we've found a cooler way of incorporating them into your home, sans cheesiness. I present to you: mosaic word backsplashes.
Thanks to Brooke Wagner Designs and builder Patterson Custom Homes, the adorable kitchen bar area above has so much life. Between the gorgeous gray cabinetry and the black tiles arranged to read "COCKTAILS" on an otherwise simple white backsplash, I'm in love.
Sure, quotes painted on walls and decor reading "FAMILY" might be seriously overdone, but this...now this is a chic way to give your wall some personality. It's the perfect excuse to redo your kitchen or bathroom, really. Just consider how you could personalize the look based on your own style and sense of humor. "EAT UP" near a kitchen table, or "WASH 'EM" near a sink to inspire you to wash the dishes, perhaps? Or how about replicating Jenna Sue's "FRESH" mosaic tiles on the floor of your laundry room?
The options are really limitless...
